5 Ways to Stay Well in Winter

Wait, What?

It happens nearly every time the weather changes - people start to get sick. Runny noses, coughs, and colds all run rampant during a change of season. Why? simply because when the weather changes, and the fall/winter season comes around again, it weakens our immune system - not necessarily makes us sick as is a common thought today. Therefore, it is extremely important to be 'healthifying' your lifestyle especially during the changes in season. Following are seven tips to stay well during the weather change.

1. Get Moving!

With the change in weather, and your body more susceptible to disease, exercise is vital. Not only in keeping yourself in shape for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas, but also just for your immune system. Exercising helps in strengthening the heart and lungs, and aids in spreading certain disease-fighting cells to diverse parts of the body, getting you ready for an immune system attack. You definitely do not want to over-workout, because that will hurt you more than help. Over-exercising wears down your body instead of building it up. Remember, all things in moderation.

2. Don't Cheat Now!

Eating a clean, balanced diet is probably one of the very best things you can do to keep sickness at bay, and not just during a change of season, but all through the year. Going green in your diet does amazing things for your health. Clean eating is one of the best things to do for sickness prevention because the food you eat is literally the fuel for your body, and if you don't fill yourself with good stuff, you won;t get anything good out of it. That's why eating fruits and vegetables is so good for you, your filling yourself with food that is great for you, and because of it, your energy level goes up, you feel better, and the results show very clearly. This leads to my next point:

3. Bottoms Up!

Yes, that means just what you think it means - drink more water. Water flushes toxins from your body and gives your systems a nice clean up. The recommended amount of water for an adult should be eight 8 ounce bottles of water, that is equivalent to a half gallon or two liters. And don't just drink when you're thirsty, if you're thirsty then you're already beginning to get dehydrated. Drink all the time. I've found that the best way to get yourself drinking more often is to have a bottle of water always with you. So drink up, and clean up your system!

4.  Dream On...

You need to get your rest to stay healthy. Do yourself a favor and get to bed at a reasonable hour. The recommended hours for an adult to sleep a night is 7 to 9 hours. How can you expect your body to fight off disease if you are fighting to stay awake during
the day. So get your beauty sleep tonight!

5. The Little Things Matter

Although taking vitamins is one of those obvious things that you should do to prevent sickness, I'll still mention it because it's important. However, some of us just hate (some of us actually can't) swallow pills. If you are in this category, and even if you aren't this still works amazingly, you may just want to try using using this Heavenly Greens powder. Paired with the other tips given already, you'll have an edge over that oncoming wave of disease that gets us every year.

A Closing Thought

Going out of your way to take care of your body is not something that should only be done a few times a year. It's a lifestyle that is possible for YOU! I know you can do it. Living a balanced lifestyle doesn't necessarily mean dieting for the rest of your days. It's about choosing the better option when the choice comes, finding contentment in your own skin, and overall just being happy with who you are. So at least for today, choose to change your life for the better.

If you found these tips helpful, don't forget to comment below, and share this on Twitter and Facebook!

Quest Chips #crunchclean

Hello!

Today we have a review for the newest addition to the Quest store! And it is... the QUEST CHIPS!
We were really excited that Quest offered us some of their chips to taste, because they looked so good and...

The point is that we were able to slip in a review for these chips. Continue reading to find out whether they were a winner or not. Happy reading!!

Cheddar & Sour Cream

I love when chips are flavored with sour cream and cheese. It just makes the chip come to life. :D Do get what I mean?

I was really excited to try this flavor of the Quest Chips, not just because of how good they looked on the package, but also because I love flavor combinations! So when I tried them...

I was blown away by how good they were. I mean the texture was light and crispy like a really good chip that you buy from the store. The flavor was amazing! The dominant flavor was definitely the cheddar, whereas the sour cream was pretty subtle.

I would buy this chip again and again and again without any hesitation. I was also thrilled that the first ingredient in this chip is protein. Not just are they amazing in taste, but they are sooo good for you! Quest just blows me away every time they come out with a new product. :)

BBQ

This was the first flavor that I tried, and with the first bite I was super impressed. The chip was a chip. It has the texture, the flavor, the look, everything. Quest really did an awesome job creating these chips.

What I loved about it especially was that the flavor wasn't too strong or to subtle, rather it was just right. :) Also the chips was crunchy, light, and full of protein! This was my second favorite chip, and I would definitely buy it again from Quest.

If they could improve anything, it would most likely be the sodium. I think that it could've been a pinch saltier tasting, yet I understand that they most likely are trying to keep the sodium low.

All in all, this chip was a hit. I wanted to eat mother bag after I finished the first. They're so addicting!

Sea Salt

This was the last flavor that I tried, and also my least favorite.

Don't get me wrong, this chip would be great to eat with salsa, nachos, or with something else, but eating it by itself was rather disappointing. The chip was lacking salt and just flavor in general. The texture was the same as the other two, but the flavor wasn't right.
I was probably spoiled because I had just tried two of the best chips I've ever tasted, and then I tried a plain, sea salt flavored chip, but nevertheless I still was hoping for much more.

Next time I try it though, I'm definitely going to have some salsa nearby to eat it with, because I'm sure it would taste delectable like that!! :D  Anyway, I'd probably give it a 3 out of 5 stars.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't necessarily impressive either. I didn't crave it like I did the other two bags I tried.

GO GREEN - Discovering the Amazing Benefits of Green Foods

Why Green?

We hear a lot about "going green" in today's society; it involves a change of lifestyle that causes us to develop a eco-friendly life. But have you ever thought about "going green" in your diet - eating foods that are actually green? The types of food I am referring to are green vegetables and fruits. Foods such as avocados, kiwis, lettuce, asparagus, etc. Changing your diet to be focused on green foods not only can but will transform your overall health into something you only dreamed of. Green vegetables and fruits offer you only the best: a happy, healthy, and incredibly delicious diet.

But Green Food is Gross...

This lie has been fed to us from the moment we first toddled around on our little feet till this very day. We always knew we were expected to grimace at the prospect of a pile of spinach on our plates at dinner. And turn our noses up at the extremely unappetizing Brussels sprouts or broccoli. Doesn't everybody know that green vegetables are just plain gross? But I will happily be the first to say that you have been completely and utterly deceived. Yep, you fell for that one. Green vegetables are actually amazingly delicious. They are extremely flavorful, and there are so many ways to cook and eat them - starting at raw. So now, let's take a quick look at several different green vegetables and see just how amazing they really are.

Brussels Sprouts

Need to lower your cholesterol? You just might want to try eating some Brussels sprouts. They are known for their cholesterol-lowering elements, and for their rich vitamin content. They are rich in fiber, and aid in protection from cancer.

Lettuce

Ever wonder why some people are crazy about salad - who wants to eat leaves for lunch anyway? Lettuce has barely any calories (shout-out to all you calorie-counters out there); it's filled with antioxidants; and it helps keep your blood pressure at the right level. Did I mention that it tastes great with some other veggies and dressing along with it.

Kale

A vegetable from the cabbage family, kale is a great food if you're wanting to cut calories, because it's extremely low in them. It's also full of vitamin C and is known to help fight cancer. Another bonus is that it strengthens your bones, so cook some of this up tonight and enjoy a power-packed meal.

Asparagus

Full of nutrients and vitamins, Asparagus is an anti-aging vegetable. It aids in clearing the body of excessive salts, and it's rich in antioxidants. You'll see this one in the grocery store in the spring, so make sure to pick some up and enjoy this tasty veggie.

Avocados

These fruits are full of fat! But don't worry, because it's the right kind of fat that helps keep your body healthy rather than pile on the pounds.
Avocados also aid in strengthening your eyes; plus, they are super silky and delicious. Don't need to do any persuading with this one.

One More Thing

If you are the type of person who is always on the go, and you don't have time to be cooking up some greens everyday, there is another alternative. You can make green shakes using one (or both) of these amazing products designed specifically to give you the greens you need without actually having to break out the knife and cutting board. Green Gold and King of Greens are powders that you just mix into your shake. They are filled with greens, and you don't have to worry, because they taste great!

That's a Wrap!

So now you know that green foods are nothing to be afraid of, so don't wait till St. Patty's Day to indulge in this treat. No worries, it's one of the best things you can eat. So don't forget to 'eat your greens' today!

Quest Fettuccine Pasta

Ingredients:

Garlic

Olive Oil

Bell Pepper

Onion

To get your pasta ready for cooking, you need to begin by rinsing it off for a few minutes and then flash boil for about three.

WARNING: the past has a fishy/sea smell. Don't worry about it, because it doesn't effect the taste at all.

Now that your pasta has been flash boiled, begin by chopping a few cloves of garlic and then adding it to your pan with olive oil. Let it cook lightly, and then dice a pepper and an onion and add that also.

Now all you have to do is pour your veggies on top of your pasta, and then eat and enjoy! I topped it with some sliced almonds, but that is completely optional :)

Here's a picture of the pasta served on a plate and ready for eating!

Thank you for stopping by! Have an amazing day, and keep shining for HIM :)

The Benefits of Antioxidants

Hello there!

Today we're providing you with an article all about antioxidants! We hope and pray that this article would benefit you in numerous ways so that you can achieve optimal health today :) Happy reading...

Antioxidants protect the skin by limiting the production of free radicals, which can damage skin cells. Not only do they protect our skin cells, but they also have the miraculous ability to prevent cancer and many more illnesses. Therefore, when our diet has a sufficient amount of vegetables and fruits, we are then able to receive the amazing benefits of antioxidants.

Studies show that one of the main causes for aging, disease, and below-normal health conditions is the fact that the cells in our body deteriorate because of oxidation. Basically what happens is that when oxygen (which is what we need for life) naturally makes contact with bad cells (free radicals) in our body, these cells start to deteriorate (oxidize). This is happening inside our bodies affecting everything from eyes to skin and organs. These damaged cells, free radicals, form a chain reaction that continues damaging other good cells that they come in contact with.

The body's natural response or remedy to this is to produce antioxidants to fight these bad cells (called "free radicals") that are degenerating or adversely affecting your health. But, with unhealthy diets and inadequate exercise, the production of antioxidants falls short.

"Antioxidants may lower your risk of developing a number of health conditions, including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, dementia and eye disease." LIVESTRONG

So when all is said and done, the question that is put before us now is how can we start making a change in our diet to receive amazing health benefits from antioxidants?

If you are ready to start being blessed with healthy, glowing skin, fully functioning organs, and numerous benefits for your body, then consider trying one of our greatest products filled with Antioxidants:

Power Purples Antioxidant Powder

"Restoring your health, rejuvenating your body, reclaiming your vitality and feeling young again can be possible through good physical conditioning and a healthy diet.
To give you an edge in optimal nutrition for achieving your dream lifestyle, you may want to consider the awesome nutritional benefits of Power Purples and Power Reds.
Our bodies are constantly facing challenges to maintain optimal health. Aging, unhealthy diets, poor exercise, and other stresses are changing our bodies daily. This affects how we feel and in the long run can lead to disease or ill health."

Yum! Quest Pasta

Hello there you all!

It's another beautiful day, right? As you know, we were blessed by Quest with the opportunity to review their amazing products. We are thrilled that we have been given this opportunity, and we're super excited to share our opinions with you!

Today we are featuring one of their newest products, which you already know what it is from the title of this post. We were really excited to try it, 'cause who knew you could make pasta extremely healthy for you and actually taste like real food?

Quest Spaghetti

What you need:

4 cloves garlic

1/4 onion

olive oil

4 olives

2 or 3 mushrooms (optional)

3 tbsp. Parmesan cheese

2 tsp. evaporated milk or regular

2 tsp. water

1/8 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. oregano

Make sure you rinse your noodles really well before cooking. They do, like many people said, smell sea-like. Upon opening, you get a fishy/ocean smell. Don't worry, it doesn't effect the taste!

Flash boil the noodles for 1-2 minutes, and then rinse again. Now they are ready for usage.

BASE:

To start off, add some oil to a pan, then finely chop your garlic and your onion and add that as well. Wait until the garlic and onions have cooked lightly before adding your noodles.

Once you've added the noodles, sprinkle on some salt and pepper. Once that is completed, add some chopped olives into the pan.

CREAMY SAUCE:

Now that the noodles are cooked, begin making the sauce.

Get out a small bowl or container. Chop some mushrooms (optional) and toss them into the bowl. Now measure out your oregano and cheese and add that as well. Microwave the contents for 25 seconds.

Now that that is warmed up a little, add your evaporated milk, water, and salt. Stir it up, and then add it to the noodles in the pan.

Yummy! It looks amazing already. WAIT! Don't take a bite until the end. I know it's tempting, but just hold on and don't taste it...

Dice half a tomato, and have two basil leaves on hand. They're both optional, but let me tell you... they definitely add something to the recipe!

Place the noodles onto a plate, and then cover it in the diced tomato. If you want, you can lightly cook the tomatoes before adding them to your noodles.

After adding your tomatoes, place your two basil leaves on top to give it a finished look. And... VOILA .... you're done!

Eat and enjoy!

Thank you for stopping by our blog! If you liked this post, please comment and share. Thank you so much for your support! Have an amazing day and keep shining for HIM...

OH! I almost forgot! Here's some shots we got during the taste testing with Elena from The Whole Fruit.

On a Quest

Hello there!

It's been a little bit, since we've posted, but no worries... we're here to stay! Today is our final post containing our reviews for the Quest Protein Bars. We hope you're as excited as we are to share with you our thoughts about their products! Let's begin...

* Cookie Dough *

I love cookies, in fact, I love mostly anything sweet. If you do too, we wanna know,  so comment! Anyway, I have always loved making cookies because I get to nibble on some of the chocolate chips, taste the dough (YUM), and then get to enjoy it completely finished while drinking a cup of milk. How would you like it if you could get all that from a single protein bar that is actually good for you? That's just what Quest did!

I loved that this bar wasn't too much of the dough flavor, but that it had a sufficient amount of chocolate in it. This was one of my favorites because it cures a sweet tooth while giving you a burst of energy. I really love that it has all the same flavors that cookie dough has. It has a sweet, chocolatey flavor and a little bit of saltiness. It definitely makes your taste buds happy! I definitely enjoyed this protein bar!

* Banana Nut Muffin *

Muffins are amazing. Please don't disagree! I have never tried a Banana Nut Muffin, but it sounds good. I love Pumpkin muffins, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, any kind really, so if you have a protein bar that tastes like one- give it to me please!

Quest made an amazing bar. It tastes just like a muffin. It tastes like a nice ripe banana, it tastes nutty, and it tastes like perfection in a bar! I had seen some reviews about this bar, and a certain percentage said that it had an over-powering banana flavor. If you were a little unsure about it, than please, let me have the final say. The mixture of banana and nuts was perfect. Quest did a great job!! Neither flavor was over powering, but in fact there was just enough of each. I didn't warm it up, but I can imagine that doing so would make it taste even better! Why don't you head on over to their site and treat yourself to a box of them. Sound good?

* Cinnamon Roll *

Yum. I loooove cinnamon rolls! Give me one any day of the week!

I tried this protein bar before I had an intense workout, and let me tell you something.... it was GOOD!
Let me re-phrase that. It was GREAT. You get what I mean :)

I loved the uniqueness of this Quest bar. It was unlike all the other protein bars of theirs that I've tried. The consistency of the bar reminded me of a candy bar. It was stuffed in a backpack that had been in the car, so it probably had been warmed by the heat inside the car. Anyway, it was softer and less chewy than their other bars. The flavor was more cinnamon than cinnamon roll, I personally thought, but hey, not every bar is perfect :) I liked that the cinnamon taste wasn't overpowering, but that there was enough so it tasted similar to a cinnamon roll.

I love the fact that after I eat I Quest bar, they definitely satisfy me for a while. While that is a plus, another bonus is that I personally feel energized after I eat them. I love that the bars not only taste good, but increase your energy level and satisfy you. I know that from previous experience, I would eat a protein bar and feel hungry 30 minutes later. Also Quest bars are really low in sugar. Unlike other protein bars, they give you a lot of protein and less sugar. The only thing that was a little bit of a downer was that you got a slight aftertaste of sucralose :( As much as I like Quest, I really dislike that some of their bars have sucralose. Otherwise, this bar was a winner!

* Cookies and Cream *

I heard so much about this Quest bar. It was advertised everywhere. No matter where I went, I found that somehow this bar was advertised there, too. So, as it was, I was really eager to try it. Results...

The bar was simply amazing. I loved every single bite of it. I loved the intense cookie flavor which was in every bite, and the consistency was amazing too. It was simply awesomeness in a bar. It had many chunks of the actual cookie and then the cream inside, so it gave it a little crunchiness to the bar, which was... super nice!!

It's so hard to say which is a favorite because they are all so good, but this was definitely one of the very best I have tried. It's worth every dollar you spend on it. I am so excited to head over to GNC soon and get me some more bars!

Thank you so much, Quest, for allowing us to review these bars. You are such an awesome company, and we love all of your products!

* Quest Cravings *

I had been so eager to try these too, because I and heard so many great reviews about them! It was Quest's version of a Reese's PB Cup, and I love those!

To start off, I was impressed that Quest made the taste so similar to an actual PB cup. It was a great first try, but I honestly I didn't love it. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't horrible, but it was, in my opinion, only okay. I had so much looked forward to eating it that my hopes were so high. I'd love to see Quest improve the taste.

I felt as though it tasted slightly bitter, though the peanut butter flavor masked it somewhat. It was great that they took healthy ingredients and turned it into a sweet treat. Maybe it would be better warmed up, but I wasn't extremely impressed.

I would probably give it a three out of five stars. It wasn't horrible, but I think it could be improved.
I'd love to see Quest continue tweaking the recipe, and then I'd taste it again, but currently I wouldn't re-buy them. Maybe in the future! Maybe...

Thank you so much, Quest, for sending us these bars to review! We love getting to try each new flavor created in your kitchen :)

Have a blessed day everyone, and keep shining for HIM!
Olivia

Quest Reviews

Hello my beautiful friends!

I'm so excited that we are blogging again (sorry for taking a long break)! We're here to share with you our thoughts on Quest bars. So many people say that they are just amazing and that you need to try them, but is it true? See for yourself...

* Brownie *

Olivia - "Wow. Where should I start? This was the very first Quest bar that I ever tried, and let's just say... it was really good! I had always dreamed of tasting one- after all, you see them advertised everywhere, and they look mouthwateringly delicious. Back to the bar...

When I tried it, I warmed it in the microwave for about 15 seconds, and when I pulled it out of the microwave it smelled exactly like a real brownie! Because it smelled great, it made me want to taste it so badly, but I didn't realize that I would be in for a real treat.

The bar tastes like a freshly baked, warm brownie. It was rich and chocolatey, so it will cure your sweet tooth! The flavor is just right, it doesn't taste artificial and it doesn't taste like a healthified brownie. Nope. It tastes like one of the best brownies you've eaten. Ever. It was amazing, and I'd definitely get it again!"

* Coconut Cashew *

Mariah- "For my body I try to keep my diet high in veggies and protein. I like to include a serving of protein in every meal, so I usually opt for a protein shake when I'm ready for a snack. However, when I was about to make myself a shake, my sister offered me the coconut cashew Quest bar - my life would never be the same... ;)

But seriously, for soooo long I wanted to try a Quest bar. It seemed like everyone was eating and loving Quest bars and I wondered what I was missing out on. The coconut cashew bar was soooo amazingly delicious and satisfyingly filling - it was perfection all wrapped up. :)

I loved the unique coconut cashew flavor and it was unlike any protein bar - or any bar for that matter - I had ever tasted. I love that this bar has 20 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar. That's unbelievable!! I've had some seriously delicious protein bars before, but they had more sugar than a candy bar and less than 10 grams of protein. The Coconut Cashew Quest not only is low in sugar an high in protein, it also has no artificial ingredients and is only 170 calories! Besides all of the nutritional information, it is just plain delicious! I loved this bar and can't wait to try more."

I'm on a quest for Quest! ;)

* Peanut Butter Supreme *

Michaela- "I love peanut butter, and I love Quest bars. When those two loves are combined they transform into something incredible, something I didn't know was possible. Quest's Peanut Butter Supreme protein bar is just that - absolutely incredible. It was like getting a taste of heaven, that good. I absolutely loved the smoothness of it and the rich flavor. Honestly, I couldn't even believe how good it was. I had only one Quest bar before trying this flavor, and I hadn't been impressed. But this, this was amazing.

I microwaved it for a couple seconds, and the flavors just burst in your mouth. I can hardly wait to try it again. I was doing a bit of reading about Quest Nutrition, and found out some things that make me appreciate Quest protein bars even more. All of their ingredients are natural and they don't add any sugar outside of ingredients such as chocolate and fruits to their bars. They have created something absolutely sensational without adding in all the ingredients that are unhealthy. It really is the ultimate #cheatclean!

A quick shout-out to all you peanut butter lovers out there: You need to eat this bar! Seriously, it is amazing."

*Chocolate Peanut Butter *

Olivia- "To start off, I love sweets. I'd eat sweets with every meal, but... you get the point. So whenever I get the chance to grab a bite of deliciousness in a healthy form, it's a winner! That's just what this Quest bar was: a winner!

It was on a practice night (I play a sport) when I got really hungry. You know that gnawing hunger that just won't go away? Well that's how I felt. I had thrown the Chocolate Peanut Butter Quest bar into my backpack before heading out the door- it was a "just in case I get hungry" sort of thing. So since I was super hungry, I decided I'd eat the bar then and there- don't forget, I was running/exercising.

It was so delicious I was actually happy I was hungry! This was the 2nd Quest bar I had tried, and I liked it. A lot. The bar was so perfectly made. What I mean to say: There was just enough peanut butter to leave you satisfied and just enough chocolate flavor to cure that sweet tooth. It was perfection in a bar. :) The consistency was like any other protein bar that you'd get. It was really good. Not just that, but the extra + was that it gave me a lot of energy, left me satisfied, and it wasn't a  heavy snack, I guess you could say, so I didn't get cramps! It was a winner in my opinion!"

*Lemon Cream Pie*

Michaela- "This flavor really intrigued me, partly because I like lemon a lot, and partly because I like pie. After trying this bar I realized something:

Lemon + Pie + Quest = Deliciousness

I decided to try something a little different than simply eating the bar. So, I cut it into fourths and rolled each chunk into a ball. Then I popped them in the oven for about five minutes. They smelled great when I took them out, and to top everything off, I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top (optional). I let them cool and they were amazing! I loved the flavor of the tangy lemon and the consistency of the bar.

Overall, the Lemon Cream Pie protein bar has been one of my very favorite Quest bars. Quest creates the most awesome protein bar flavors! :)

Thank you for stopping by to hear our thoughts on Quest bars. We're so thankful for your support. Have an amazing day, everyone, and keep shining for Him!

Lots of love,
Mariah, Michaela, and Olivia
