Banana Bread Protein Pancakes

Hello!
It's been a while since I did a post! :D I'm really excited to share this wonderful recipe with you and a really great blog!
I made these Banana Bread Protein Pancakes from Dishing Out Health. Super sweet Jamie posted this great recipe, and I just had to try it!! Honestly, I'm really, really glad I did. :)

Ingredients:
1/2 ripe banana
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (any kind)
2 tbsp. of flour
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp. syrup (I didn't use this because I was low on syrup, but I know it would make them extra good!)
1/4 tsp. baking powder (I used 1/2 tsp)
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. vanilla extract

In a bowl, mash half of a banana with a fork. Then add the rest off the ingredients to this. Spray a pan, turn stove on to high, and pour in batter. Wait for the pancakes to bubble and then flip. Eat and enjoy!

Toppings:
Options: sliced banana (this is what I used), walnuts, syrup, honey, agave nectar, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, peanut butter, jam, protein powder, vanilla, peanut butter, or chocolate frosting, or whatever you'd like to put!

Jamie said in her post, that her's came out really nice and thick like banana bread, but mine came out like the thickness of a regular pancake just extra big. :D They were still delicious though. I had barely any syrup that day, so they were lacking some sweetness. I'm sure they'd be even better if you had enough syrup to drizzle on top, because I had only enough to drizzle on the first pancake.

These pancakes are good for any meal - lunch, dinner, or breakfast- because they are filling and have great flavor! I was able to eat them for lunch at 11:15, and they held me over all the way till 6:35. I didn't even have a snack! I will definitely make these again and again. I highly recommend these to any pancake lover.

If you want them to taste more dessert like, throw a handful or two of chocolate chips in the batter! Yum. Just change it up a little, and always be creative! Just remember, you are a creative cook. When you make them, send me an email and tell me how you like them. :D

Go check out Jamie's blog Dishing out Health for a bunch of delicious, healthy recipes and fitness ideas and tips! Have a wonderful day, may the Lord bless you exceedingly and abundantly in all things. :D Go try this recipe, and tell me what you think!!

Love and Grace...
Olivia

Updates & Editing

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all had a very happy Monday filled with the blessings of our Lord.
I just wanted to give you a heads-up about some modifications and changes that are happening on the blog. As you have probably noticed, the header of the blog has changed and now says: NUTRISIMO.

Just to let you know, I am currently working on giving this blog a serious make-over. This is a work-in-progress. The blog is under construction, so please excuse any inconsistencies. I am working on converting Fit 2 Be to Nutrisimo. After much prayer and consideration, I think it would be best if the blog for www.nutrisimo.com, looked like it actually had some relation to it.

The blog will still have the same content - plus a bit more articles and health related advice. I am really excited about these changes and I hope that you will love the new look of the blog. Please stick around and see how this all turns out. If you have any suggestions or comments concerning the blog make-over, I would love to hear them. Please comment below, or contact me through the email listed in the contact section of the blog. :)

Thank you so much! Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. May God bless you always! Have a fabulous day. :)

Love & Grace,
Mariah

Top 5 Favorite Breakfasts

Good morning! :)

I hope that you are having a fabulous day so far. I know I am. This morning I woke up bright and early - actually dark and early - at 3:30 A.M.

I was sooo happy! For some reason, I have been getting up so late. It's like I can't get out of bed until 7:00 or 7:30 A.M. - it's crazy! I prayed last night that the Lord would wake me up and make me get up. He is so faithful.

All glory to God I woke up and had such a productive morning. I had a lovely time reading my Bible and spending time in prayer. Then I was able to do an awesome exercise, get my chores done, and take a quick shower. By then I was ready for some breakfast, so I sliced up some cantaloupe and banana, and had a marvelous breakfast. :)

"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." - Psalm 34:8

It's an awesome day so far!

Anyway, I just wanted to share a few of my favorite breakfasts. Although I do enjoy experimenting with different recipes and mixing it up a bit, I find that there are certain meals that I tend to repeat a lot.

Then there are some breakfasts that I just absolutely love, even if I don't have them all the time. This post will be a mixture of my go-to breakfasts, and my favorites. We'll start with my favorites, and then move on to my most common meals.

#1 Peanut Butter Oatmeal

This looks very plain, but the flavor is amazing. I'll have to share this recipe with you soon. I usually add some raisins, cinnamon, and coconut flakes, but this bowl was very simple. It is sooo good.

#2 Granola w/ Yogurt

I've been meaning to share this recipe for a while. I'll see if I can post it this weekend. My sister makes amazing granola. It is a super simple recipe, but it tastes amazing! It's super crunchy and flavorful. I love having this granola with some fruit and yogurt, but it's also great with milk.

#3 Egg White Oatmeal Protein Pancake

I absolutely LOVED this breakfast. It was so delicious and so satisfying. My favorite blogger - Julie Fagan from Peanut Butter Fingers - always seems to be eating this. She raves about them, and I had been wanting to try this pancake for a while. I've only had it once, but it was so fantastic, I know I will be making this many more times. My pancake didn't look as beautiful as Julie's, but it tasted awesome, and I am so glad that I got to try it.

#4 Vanishing Veggie Quiche

This quiche is the best I have ever had. It is soooo mouth-wateringly good, that I cannot describe how amazing this is. I love having this for breakfast, but it is a fabulous lunch or dinner. Yum. This is one of the best meals ever. We always make a large pan of quiche, but it never lasts long. I will be posting the recipe very soon. Perhaps I shall work on that tonight. I have all the pictures ready to post, I just have to type up the recipe.

#5 Peanut Butter Protein Shake

I love having this shake after my morning run. This shake is absolutely amazing! It comes out like a smooth ice cream sometimes. I love how refreshing and filling it is. This shake holds me over until lunch, so I don't need a snack in between. This shake is also a great cure for a sweet tooth, so I like to have it as a treat every once in a while. If you like having something a bit sweet in the morning, or enjoy shakes after your workout, I highly recommend this one. I love it!

*BONUS*

Alright, that was all five! But... I can't resist telling you about this goodness. I eat this practically everyday. It is my go-to meal for busy mornings. I love how quick this is to throw together, and it's so good for you too!

So I guess this makes 6 Favorite Breakfasts, but 5 sounded better, so we'll leave the title with that. ;)

#6 Sun Egg & Broccoli

I have this practically every day. In this picture I had two eggs, but I usually have just one. I also add some sliced onion and minced garlic to the broccoli when I sauté it. I love having this with a cup of green tea. It is so delicious. Broccoli is one of my very favorite veggies, and I love having it for breakfast with some yummy eggs. It is so GOOD!

Well, that's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this post of my favorite breakfasts. Hopefully this gave you some ideas and inspiration for your own morning meal. Which one of these do you think looked the best? Please remember to follow Fit 2 Be on Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. Have an awesome day and may God bless you all!

Eat Clean 2014 Challenge

Happy New Year!

I am so excited to finally share this challenge with you! I have been developing this for the past few weeks, and I am really eager to see how you like it. I think you'll find it challenging, but not unrealistic - it's actually very simple. Each month, I want you to abstain from one - only one - certain type of food. Is that easy, or what?

For example:
January is the month of no processed grains. Basically, that means no white bread, white pasta, chips, cookies, crackers, etc...
Personally, I have decided not to have any processed grains - whether they are wheat or white. So you see, you can adjust this challenge to meet your personal levels and fitness goals. I know that I feel really good when I cut back on processed grains and reduce my intake of carbohydrates. So for this month, I am focusing on nourishing my body with lots of fruits and veggies.

Now this challenge is not meant to overwhelm you or make you feel deprived. The goal is simply to reduce less beneficial foods, and to increase our intake of good healthy food. If an occasion were to arrive - such as a wedding, anniversary, birthday - I am not suggesting that you restrain from the foods that are off limits for that month. You must make the decision that is best for you.

Remember, our focus is not to feel deprived and unhappy; but rather, to be a happier, healthier person.  I want you to make wise choices, and to truly respect your body. Nourish your body with healthy, wholesome foods. I know that every once in a while, you will indulge - I will indulge. Sometimes, a bit of indulgence is what keeps us sane. It is actually good to treat yourself every once in a while. Let's keep in mind that moderation is key to success. Don't overwhelm yourself with limitations and restrictions, but aim for a balanced healthy lifestyle.

In this challenge, you can make the decision whether to carry things over into the next month, or to stop after the deadline. It's really up to you whether or not to include certain foods back into your diet the next month, or to continue abstaining from it.

I believe there will be many things that you will add back in, and many that you will choose to cut out completely. I know that for myself, it isn't realistic to say that I won't eat dairy or meat for an entire year. I think it would be a beneficial challenge to go without those foods for a month, but I know that for myself, a year would not be realistic. However, for things like high fructose corn syrup, processed snacks, sodas, and juices; I know that I could probably abstain from those completely. I'm sure that there will be a few days in the year where you ( and I) will indulge a bit. Obviously, if it is Thanksgiving or Christmas, I will definitely be having meat, dairy, sweets... you get the picture.

Just a quick note - if you are a vegan or vegetarian, perhaps some of these months do not apply to you. If so, you can always repeat certain months, adjust it to meet your personal diet, or simply focus on eating clean for that month.

Well, that's all folks! :)
I wish you all a very blessed and prosperous new year. May our beautiful and gracious Lord fulfill the desires of your heart, and bless you in every possible way. I pray that God  would bless you with great success in your health and fitness journey, and that you would be filled with the joy, love, and peace of our great Lord.
